Azarquiel School July 4-11, 2010

The selection procedure of the first Azarquiel School on Astronomy is now finished. The Board of the School is very glad to announce that more than 100 applications have been received, coming from 26 different countries belonging to the EU and the Middle East region, but also from Africa, Asia and America.

We would like first to thank to all the applicants for their interest in the School. Unfortunately the number of students is limited to 40 students, 20 from the EU and 20 from Arab/Middle East countries and in the last case (76 applications) has implied a strong selection. We will give priority to those applicants for the next school to be held likely in Lebanon in 2012.

The selection has been made according to the criteria previously publised, i.e. curriculum vitae, geographical distribution, gender and first arrive first served. All the selected students will receive in the next days an official letter of invitation from the University of Granada, to be used also for VISA procedures if needed.
The selected candidates whose travel will be covered by the School will be contacted individualy during the next few days by the Board of the School to arrange the flight tickets to Granada from their respective countries.

Next follows the list of selected students. A backup list of candidates has been also selected. These students will be contacted in strict order in case some of the selected students declined to attend the School.
