School Board
The board of the School is composed of seven internationally recognised experts in different fields of astronomy coming from five different countries: Germany, Italy, Lebanon, Spain and Turkey.

The members of the Board participate in national and international projects, they have published more than a thousand of scientific papers in the best journals in their fields, in dedicated volumes or in Review Journals. They train graduate and postgraduate students. They are frequently requested as referees for International Journals and proposals, have organised several international conferences and schools and are part of the scientific committees of international meetings and organizations. All of them are leaders of groups that are among the top world contributors in their fields. They are members of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), the European Astronomical Society and of different national astronomical associations: the American Astronomical Society, the German Astronomical Society, the Italian Astronomical Society and the Spanish Astronomical Society.

Prof. Inmaculada Domínguez is Profesor Titular of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Universidad de Granada (Spain). She took her degree in Physics in 1986 at the Universidad de La Laguna (Spain) and received her PhD in 1991 from the Universidad de Barcelona (Spain). After that, she was a postdoc researcher at the Istituto di Astrofisica Spaziale (Frascati, Italia) during 2 years. Since 1993 she has developed her academic and research activities at the Universidad de Granada (Spain) where she has won several contracts. She has been a frequent research visitor at the INAF-Osservatorio Astronomico di Collurania (Teramo, Italy), the University of Texas in Austin and the University of Chicago (USA). Presently she is the Principal Investigator of the project “Two challenges of modern stellar physics: supernova progenitors and AGB stars” (Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation).
Prof. Carlos Abia is Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Universidad de Granada (Spain). He took his degree in Physics in 1985 at the University of Granada and after that, he won a contract of Astrofisico Residente at the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias, where he received his PhD in 1989 (University of La Laguna). Prof. Abia was a postdoc researcher during 3 years at the Université Libre de Bruxelles working on nucleosynthesis and chemical evolution of the galaxies. He came to the University of Granada in 1992, where he won a permanent position as Profesor Titular in 1995. He was a visiting scholar at the University of Washington (Seattle) in 1996 and a frequent visiting professor at the Universita di Perugia, at the Observatoire de la Côte Azur (Nice, France) and at the Osservatorio Astronomico di Collurania (Teramo, Italy). Prof. Abia is an internationally recognized expert in the study of evolved stars and the nucleosynthesis processes occurring in their interiors. Presently, he is the leader of the Stellar Evolution and Nucleosynthesis Group in the University of Granada and participates in the installation of an infrared telescope (IRAIT) in the Antarctic plateau (Dome C).
Prof. Oscar Straniero is the Director of the INAF-Osservatorio Astronomico di Collurania in Teramo (Italy). He took his degree in Physics in 1987 at the Universita La Sapienza (Roma) and, after 3 years at the Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa), he got a permanent position at the Osservatorio Astronomico di Collurania in 1990. In 1989 he was a visiting researcher at the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias (Spain). Expert on stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis, he is associated to the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, collaborating in several projects related with Nuclear Astrophysics (like LUNA). Since 2000 he is Associated Professor at the Universita of Aquila and Universita of Teramo and recently became Research Director at INAF.
Prof. Claus Rolfs is Professor at the University of Bochum (Germany). He received his PhD in Physics in 1967 from the University of Freiburg. After that, he has developed his research and academic activities in several countries: University of Toronto (Canada, 1969-70), California Institute of Technology (Pasadena, USA, 1973, 1975, 1978, 1980, 1985), University of Münster (Germany, 1974), Ohio State University (Columbus, USA, 1980), Georgetown University ( Washington DC, USA, 1984), University of Naples (Italy, 1995). He has published a reference book in Nuclear Astrophysics, recommended in universities all over the world: “Cauldrons in the Cosmos“ (University of Chicago Press 1988). Since 1990 he is Professor of Experimental Physics in Bochum (Germany). He has been awarded with several international prices, among them the four prestigious Röntgen, Millikan, Humboldt and Bethe. Prof. Rolfs has been a long-term collaborator of Nobel-Laureat Prof. Fowler (Pasadena, California). Prof. Rolfs is Doctor honoris causa from Lisboa University (Portugal, 2005), Doctor honoris causa from Catania University (Sicily, 2005) and Doctor honoris causa from Naples University (Italy, 2006) and Honorary member of the physical society of Hungarian Academy of Science and Honorary member of nuclear physics society of Greece.
Prof. Orhan Gölbasi is Professor at the Istanbul Kultur University (Turkey). He accomplished his higher education in the Istanbul University where he received his Ph.D. in 1981. He won a position as Associate Professor at the Inonu University (Malatya) in 1990 and he has been Professor to the Akdeniz University from 2000 to 2007. During the last decade he has been involved in the developing of the Tubitak National Observatory (Antalya), in particular in the astrolabe and other instruments.
Prof. Mounib El Eid is Professor at the American University of Beirut (Lebanon). He accomplished his higher education in Germany, where he has received his Ph.D. in 1975 from the University of Darmstadt/Germany in the field of Nuclear Astrophysics. He came to the American University of Beirut at the end of 1995 from Germany where he was working at the Observatory of the University of Goettingen for more than a decade in the field of stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis. He was visiting professor at the Institute d'Astrophysique de CNRS in Paris and Max-Planck Institute for Astrophysics in Garching/Germany, at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of North Carolina (Capell Hill/USA) and at Clemson University (Sc/USA).
